The Red Shirt™ was developed to help fund scholarships and programming provided by the Wisconsin Alumni Association. Proceeds from the sales of these shirts contribute to the more than $550,000 already given by WAA every year through its scholarship programs. With the need for financial aid higher than ever, The Red Shirt™ becomes another way for WAA to give back to the UW community.
About "On, Wisconsin"
In 1909, W.T. Purdy composed the melody and former UW student, Carl Beck, supplied the lyrics to what's now considered one of the country's most popular school songs. And on November 13, 1909, the UW Band first performed the song. So it's only natural for The Red Shirt™, a symbol of UW unity, to honor
"On, Wisconsin" - a song that's been unifying Badgers for 100 years.
